Wedding Photography | Best of 2024
What an incredible year it’s been! As 2024 draws to a close, I’ve wrapped up my final wedding of my busiest year yet and I’m just about caught up on editing. Looking back through all the work I’ve created for my couples has been so rewarding. From nearly 14,000 images delivered this year, I’ve carefully selected around 150 for this post, which was no easy task!
Almost every image here was captured as the moments unfolded, reflecting my documentary approach to weddings. I focus on telling your story while you enjoy time with your friends and family. Of course, we can always take a few minutes for relaxed portraits, and I’ll be sharing a blog post about this soon.
This year has taken me to weddings across the country, beginning in February with Tulip and Greg’s celebration in Chester and ending in December with Poppy and Robert’s two-day wedding in Chelsea and Covent Garden. I worked at incredible venues like Sefton Park Palm House, Sub Rosa, Barnutopia, and Bush Hall in London’s Shepherd’s Bush. Each venue, and the wonderful couples I worked with, made 2024 unforgettable.
It’s also been my first year as a full-time wedding photographer - a year full of learning and growth. One of the things I love most about this job is how much there is to learn and the brilliant sense of community among photographers. In January, I headed to Manchester in the snow for the Nine Dots hangout, where I picked up tips on flash photography. A big thank you to Chelsea Cannar for all your support this year and for letting me second shoot with you in May. In October, I attended The Mateers’ Wedding Photography Is Art workshop, which focused on improving documentary and storytelling at weddings. Then in November, I was back at the Nine Dots Gathering, soaking up so much inspiration from an incredible group of photographers.
I was thrilled to win my first This Is Reportage Story Award, as these awards are notoriously difficult to achieve, and documentary storytelling is the heart of my approach. I was also named one of This Is Reportage’s Top 100 Wedding Photographers in the World for the second year running! And I was stunned when one of my images won first place in the Loxley Colour Print competition at the Nine Dots Gathering - such an incredible honour.
Looking back, I feel so lucky to do what I love. I’m so grateful to the amazing couples who’ve trusted me with their memories, the incredible photography community, and of course, my amazing supportive wife and family. I can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store.
